What We Believe
We believe the historic creeds of the orthodox Christian faith such as the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds.
God
God has revealed Himself as the one true God, Almighty Father, Creator and Ruler of the universe. He lives eternally as a relationship of love - a unity of three distinct, co-equal persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is uniquely worthy of our worship, confidence and obedience.
(Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2; John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3; Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus Christ
Our Lord Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, is both completely God and completely human. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life and performed many miracles. He willingly took upon himself all of our sins and reconciled us to God through his death in our place. He rose physically from the dead, and ascended to his Father in heaven where he is our advocate and mediator. We look forward to his imminent return to earth as King to finally end evil and to bring his consummated kingdom of perfect peace and righteousness and joy.
(Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1, 14; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-20; Titus 2:13-14)
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, was given at Pentecost to unify all true believers in the Lord Jesus into one body, His universal church. The Holy Spirit is God's personal, indwelling presence within each repentant, believing heart, and the guarantee of our salvation. He guides, gifts and empowers the Christian to live a godly life of worship, service and witness to Jesus, serving His church and reaching out to a lost world.
(Matthew 28:18-20; John 7:37-39; 14:16,17; 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; 5:18)
People
Every human being is a valuable person created by God in His image and thus possesses dignity and deserves respect. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life. Being lost and alienated from God, we are incapable of attaining salvation by our own human effort or merit.
(Genesis 1:26,-27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; 59:1,2; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3; 4:18)
Salvation
Eternal life is a free gift of God offered to all humans because of His grace and kindness. However, like any gift, God`s gift must be received. We receive this gift of personal relationship with God through humble repentance, turning away from self-rule, to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection on our behalf.
(John 3:16; 10:10; 14:6; 17:3; Romans 3:28; 5:1; 6:23; 8:31-39; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17-18; Titus 3:5-7)
Church
All true believers of all ages and places are united by the Holy Spirit into one universal, spiritual family, called by Scripture the body of Christ, of which He is the head. As members of that body, we are to make every effort to keep ourselves united in the Spirit, accepting, forgiving and loving one another as God, for Christ's sake, has forgiven us . The local church is a congregation of believers who gather for worship, prayer, instruction, encouragement, mutual accountability, and community with each other. Through it, believers invest time, energy, and resources to fulfill the Great Commission - reaching out to lost people and helping them grow into fully devoted followers of Christ.
(Exodus 19:5-6; Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:43-47; Ephesians 4:1-16; 1 Peter 2:9-12)
Baptism and Communion
We believe that two ordinances have been given by Christ to be observed by His Church; first, the baptism in water of all true believers, by which they show their complete allegiance to Jesus Christ, second, regular worship in Communion or the Lord's Supper, in which we remember Christ's sacrifice for our sins, and partake of Him (the Bread of life) until He returns.
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38,41; Luke 22:19,20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26;12:12-30; Ephesians 4:1-7)
Bible
The Bible is God's unique and authoritative revelation to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. As originally given, it is the infallible and trustworthy Word of God.
(Psalm 119:105, 160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5,6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
Resurrection
We believe in the personal, glorious, and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ with his holy angels, when he will exercise his role as final Judge. We believe in the physical resurrection of every person to stand judgment before God, either to the resurrection of eternal life with God or to the second death and eternal separation from God.
(John 3:16-21; Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15)
